Funding of data science events and courses

The mission of the Danish Data Science Academy is to support a national collaborative network of data science experts across universities, public institutions, and industries; and to inspire and train the next generation of data scientists through educational, interdisciplinary, and collaborative activities.
To achieve this, we invite applications for funding of events and courses that will contribute to growing a strong data science community in Denmark.

What can be supported?

The DDSA welcomes applications for:

  • Events and networking activities including, but not limited to, workshops, training/mentoring events, networking initiatives, competitions, and hackathons
  • Courses including, but not limited to, PhD and postdoc courses, as well as vocational courses for public-, hospital-, and private sector employees

The DDSA differentiates between small and large events and courses. They are distinguished as follows:

Applications for small events and courses are subject to fast-track assessment by the DDSA Secretariat, whereas grants for large events and courses are based on a scientific assessment by the Education and Networking Committee.

Small events and courses are activities with a total budget below DKK 100.000, of which the DDSA can fund up to DKK 50.000. Large events and courses are activities with a total budget above DKK 100.000, of which the DDSA can fund up to DKK 100.000.

While applications for small events and courses can be submitted throughout the year, the two annual deadlines for large events and courses applications are February 15th and September 15th.
