SUMMARY:Mini Omics series of workshops
DESCRIPTION:I’m excited to invite you to our four workshop in our OMICS mini-series\, where we’ll kick things off with R & the Tidyverse 🧬📊 \nThe first session is all about getting comfortable with R and tidy tools for data manipulation and visualization — skills you’ll use again and again in the following workshops about bulk RNA-seq\, single-cell\, and spatial transcriptomics. The in-person meeting Venue is in the Aarhus university main campus\, but we can stream the lectures as well. \n🗓 When and where: 1) February 26\, 12:00–16:00\, @ Bartholin building (1241-114) Tidy R\n2) March 26\, 12:00–16:00\, @ Bartholin building (1241-114) bulkRNA\n3) April 23\, 12:00–16:00\, @ 1264-104 single cell RNA\n4) May 21\, 12:00–16:00\, @ Bartholin building (1241-114) spatial transcriptomics\n🧑‍💻 Format: Hands-on\, beginner-friendly\, with help during exercises (We’ll stream the talks too) \nWho’s it for?\nEveryone! Complete beginners are very welcome\, and more experienced R users should still find it useful. \nThere’ll be cake + warm drinks ☕🍰\, optional take-home exercises\, and you can also follow up with questions at the ABC coding café (https://abc.au.dk/). \nSignup: 1) https://forms.gle/aN6PbyNsgGyyx4VD6 Tidy and R\n2) https://forms.gle/hEUYh3uNBiASzAFf6 bulkRNA\n3) https://forms.gle/sYvCu5sgpLJTtHSk7 single cell RNA\n4) https://forms.gle/FCu4JeKMbRUaAfkN9 spatial transcriptomics \nHope to see many of you there! 😊

SUMMARY:Applied Machine Learning in health Sciences
DESCRIPTION:The aim of the course is to introduce the student to machine learning techniques and enable the student to apply these methods to analyze complex data sets as typically encountered in modern research. The student will achieve an understanding of the theoretical background of supervised- and unsupervised machine learning techniques and will gain practical experience in applying these techniques in real-world data analysis.\nDisclaimer:\nDDSA has explicit permission from Arcanic and the owners of the https://phdcourses.dk/ website to display the courses on ddsa.dk.

SUMMARY:Aarhus summer school - Topological data analysis in stochastic geometry and image processing
DESCRIPTION:It is our pleasure to announce the Aarhus summer school on “Topological data analysis in stochastic geometry and image processing” to be held at Aarhus Institute of Advanced Studies\, August 04-08\, 2025. The summer school on “Topological data analysis in stochastic geometry and image processing” is a five-day event with the aim of introducing young researchers to the highly active fields of Topological Data Analysis (TDA)\, Stochastic Geometry and Image Processing. The key elements of the summer school are lectures by four distinguished keynote speakers and the analysis of real-world datasets in group project work. \nThe principal target group is PhD students and postdocs in probability theory\, statistics and related subjects. The invited lecturers are: \nOmer Bobrowski (Queen Mary University\, London)\nAnna Gusakova (University of Münster)\nAnthea Monod (Imperial College\, London)\nRaphaël Lachièze-Rey (INRIA Paris) \nWe are looking forward to an inspiring event. \nBest regards\, the organizers \nAnne Marie Svane\, Christian Hirsch\, Christophe Biscio\, Jon Sporring\, Lisbeth Fajstrup\, and Markus Kiderlen

SUMMARY:Summer Course "Information Visualization" for MSc&PhD students
DESCRIPTION:3 Week Intensive Summer Course “Information Visualization” \nLearn how to visualize data from the ground up (visual perception\, visual marks and channels\, colors) all the way to advanced visualization techniques for multivariate\, temporal\, geospatial\, and network data\, as well as their combination in multiple coordinated view setups. The course will feature a mix of lectures\, quizzes\, exercises\, and activities together with a practical course project. Prerequisites are experience in coding in any language (R\, Python\, JavaScript\,…) or the willingness to learn an entirely new language (Vega-Lite). This course is specifically designed to be cross-disciplinary and explicitly invites applications from students of the life sciences and the social sciences. \nApplication deadline: 15-MAR-2024

SUMMARY:Cancer Epidemiology using the Danish Clinical Cancer Databases
DESCRIPTION: To provide students with an overview on how to take a research idea through to implementing\, analyzing\, and interpreting an epidemiologic study using the Danish Clinical Cancer Databases\, and Denmark’s network of medical and population-based registries. Each concept will be introduced in a lecture. Through a combination of exercises and computer labs\, students will be provided with guidance on implementing\, analyzing and interpreting studies using data from the clinical cancer databases. Students are not required to complete an exam at the end of the course. \n Disclaimer:DDSA has explicit permission from Arcanic and the owners of the https://phdcourses.dk/ website to display the courses on ddsa.dk.

SUMMARY:Introduction to Machine Learning for Health Research
DESCRIPTION:This course will provide students with broad exposure to the elements of machine learning and its practical applications within epidemiologic research and practice. The course will combine didactic lectures with group discussions and programming exercises to ensure a balance of substantive knowledge and practical skills. Through this approach\, students will learn to apply critical thinking techniques as they explore the opportunities and limitations of using machine learning within the context of epidemiology.\n Disclaimer:DDSA has explicit permission from Arcanic and the owners of the https://phdcourses.dk/ website to display the courses on ddsa.dk.
