SUMMARY:Resampling Techniques in Statistics and Data Analysis
DESCRIPTION:In recent years\, the increasing role of computational methods has significantly influenced statistical practice. Resampling techniques have become essential tools for constructing inferential procedures. These inferential procedures usually consist of constructing confidence intervals\, estimating standard errors\, performing hypothesis tests\, generating prediction regions\, and selecting regression models. A key challenge in many of these tasks is accurately approximating the sampling distribution of a statistic\, which resampling techniques effectively address. \nResampling techniques have become essential tools in modern statistical analysis\, enabling robust inferential procedures without relying on restrictive model assumptions. These methods leverage computational power to provide highly accurate inference while offering flexibility in complex data settings. These computer-intensive methods have profoundly shaped scientific research by enabling more reliable statistical inferences without relying on unrealistic assumptions. As computational power continues to expand\, the full potential of these methods for tackling complex inferential problems is still unfolding \nThis course on resampling techniques will cover key resampling methods\, with a focus on practical applications using real data. Topics include resampling techniques such as the jackknife\, bootstrap\, and subsampling\, with a focus on bias\, variance\, and distribution estimation. We will explore their applications in inference\, including confidence intervals\, hypothesis testing\, and accuracy assessments. Additionally\, we will cover resampling methods for dependent data\, including block and model-based bootstraps\, as well as approaches for handling non-stationarity and long-memory processes.

SUMMARY:Earth Day 2025 Climate Change Data Dashboards
DESCRIPTION:The Department of Mathematical Sciences invites students\, faculty\, and the public to join us for the Earth Day 2025 Event. The theme for this year is “Climate Change Data Dashboards”. \nThe event is a day-long celebration of the importance and challenges of communicating climate change research to the public. The event is open to researchers\, students\, and anyone who is interested in learning more about this pressing topic. \nThe event will take place on April 22\, 2025\, at Aalborg University\, Denmark.
