SUMMARY:Introduction to research data management for PhD students
DESCRIPTION:This course is exclusively for PhD students at University of Copenhagen. \nDate and time: 27 May 2024 from 9:00 to 16:00. \nThe purpose of this course is to introduce PhD students from the humanities to the basics of research data management\, how to comply with the UCPH Data Management Policy\, and how to act in accordance with responsible research conduct. \nData management is an important feature of responsible conduct in research\, research integrity and ethical handling of research data. The storage and processing of research data is a concern for funding bodies as well as legislators\, both on a national and international scale. EU’s FAIR data principles (which states that data should be Findable\, Accessible\, Interoperable and Re-usable) and Open Science as such are also increasingly important aspects of research and research dissemination. \nAs part of the UCPH Data Management Policy\, all researchers will be required to fill out a Data Management Plan as part of their work. This one-day course on Research Data Management will provide information on how to get started on managing research data\, teach participants how to write a data management plan and inform them of (legal) requirements and university and faculty procedures and policies on research data.  A case presentation from a faculty member presenting their research areas from a data management and ethical perspective is an essential element of the course. \nThe course will be taught by administrative and research staff with experience in data management.         \nCourse organisers:\n Lene Offersgaard\,\n Emil Zolthan Bozard\,\n Emil Johansen Gadegaard\, \nResearch and Impact\, Faculty of Humanities\, University of Copenhagen.\n Contact: datamanagement@hum.ku.dk \nPreparation\, prior to the course:\n Participants will fill in a template (1 page) regarding data management issues related to their research project. Template will be provided after admission to the course and must be submitted to phd@hrsc.ku.dk no later than 17 Maj 2024. \nParticipants should read the material referred to in the first section of the reading list for the course (TBA). \nPreparation\, during and after the course:\n During and after the course the participants will prepare a draft of a data management plan (DMP) and receive feedback on its contents from the course presenters. Please bring a computer to create your DMP draft during the course. The DMP draft is to be forwarded to datamanagement@hum.ku.dk no later than 10 Juni 2024. \nMax. number of students: 20. In case of fewer than 6 participants\, the course will be cancelled. \nECTS: 1 \nRegistration: Please register via the link in the box no later than 7 Maj 2024. \nFurther information: Please contact the PhD Administration (phd@hrsc.ku.dk) or the course organisers for further information.  \n  \nReadings: \nTBA. \n Disclaimer:DDSA has explicit permission from Arcanic and the owners of the https://phdcourses.dk/ website to display the courses on ddsa.dk.
