DDSA Visit Grant
DDSA invites students and researchers from all parts of the world to come visit a data science research environment in Denmark. The purpose of the DDSA Visit Grant is to attract students and early career researchers interested in forming a future DDSA fellowship application in collaboration with a potential supervisor from a Danish university or a Danish research institution.
What is a DDSA Visit Grant?
As part of the DDSA Fellowship Programme, the Danish Data Science Academy provides funding for national and international bachelor’s and master’s degree students, PhD students and postdoctoral researchers to spend time with new research groups of interest in Denmark.
The purpose of the grant is to give students and young researchers the opportunity to form the basis for a future DDSA PhD or postdoc fellowship application in collaboration with a potential supervisor from a Danish university or a Danish research institution.
What does the grant cover?
The grant contributes up to DKK 15,000 to cover costs for travel, accommodation and related expenses.
The grant does not cover salary, daily allowances, food expenses or local transportation.
In general, DDSA promotes the use of public transport (and encourages the use of train / bus where possible). The use of own private vehicle is only allowed if it is more expedient in terms of cost and time, and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Who can apply?
Application is open to Danish and international students on a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree programme, PhD students and postdoctoral researchers. You must be enrolled or employed at a university at the time of the planned visit, or your visit must take place within in one year of having completed your enrolment or employment at the university.
When can you apply?
Applications can be submitted all year round and will be processed within 4 weeks. Please note, your application must be sent prior to the start of the planned activity.
Applicants can receive one grant per year.
Supervisors can receive up to 3 visit applicants per calendar year.
Applications will be evaluated on the following criteria:
- The applicant’s motivation, scientific purpose and intended outcome of the visit to Denmark
- Relevance of the applicant’s scientific profile towards the scope of the DDSA Fellowships
- Letter of support from the host institution/host supervisor
How to apply?
Apply for funding in DDSA’s funding portal by clicking the ‘Apply Now’ button.
You must include a ‘Letter of Support’ from the host institution/host supervisor vouching for your scientific qualifications and the potential scientific outcome of the visit. Please use the DDSA template provided here.
