Data Science in Practice Series (Event 5) – European High Performance Computing and AI Factories
Data Science in Practice is a series of events that unites professionals from diverse domains and sectors who work with data science, providing a platform to share insights, discuss challenges, and explore innovative solutions.
The events emphasises the journey to a solution rather than the solution itself, as well as the mistakes along the way rather than the successes. Designed to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange, Data Science in Practice extends beyond the physical events. It encourages participants to engage in informal discussions and smaller group interactions between events, promoting continuous engagement and a robust network.

Event 5 – European HPC and AI Factories
We invite companies, researchers, and public-sector partners to a focused session on the current landscape of High-Performance Computing (HPC) in Europe. The event will explore how HPC clusters and emerging AI Factories enable large-scale computation, simulation, and data-driven innovation.
We will introduce the European HPC ecosystem and highlight the capabilities of LUMI – one of the world’s most powerful supercomputers – including how organizations can access and use it for AI development, large-scale analytics, and advanced modelling.
During the session, we will:
- Present the HPC landscape and European initiatives
- Discuss how HPC and AI Factories support innovation in companies and research
- We’ll highlight the critical role of Data Management in successful AI and Supercomputing utilization.
- Share practical cases and use examples from different sectors
- Address data management and workflow considerations when working with HPC
Call for Participation
We are looking for companies interested in running an AI project on LUMI as part of this event. If your organization is exploring AI scaling, data-intensive workflows, or complex computational challenges, this is an opportunity to test, learn, and collaborate directly with HPC experts.
The session will feature Stefan Kröll Rasmussen (EURO CC) and Julius Roeder (DeIC), who will introduce access pathways and support possibilities for companies and research teams interested in using HPC resources.
