This course is exclusively for PhD students at University of Copenhagen.
Date and time: 27 May 2024 from 9:00 to 16:00.
The purpose of this course is to introduce PhD students from the humanities to the basics of research data management, how to comply with the UCPH Data Management Policy, and how to act in accordance with responsible research conduct.
Data management is an important feature of responsible conduct in research, research integrity and ethical handling of research data. The storage and processing of research data is a concern for funding bodies as well as legislators, both on a national and international scale. EU’s FAIR data principles (which states that data should be Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Re-usable) and Open Science as such are also increasingly important aspects of research and research dissemination.
As part of the UCPH Data Management Policy, all researchers will be required to fill out a Data Management Plan as part of their work. This one-day course on Research Data Management will provide information on how to get started on managing research data, teach participants how to write a data management plan and inform them of (legal) requirements and university and faculty procedures and policies on research data. A case presentation from a faculty member presenting their research areas from a data management and ethical perspective is an essential element of the course.
The course will be taught by administrative and research staff with experience in data management.
