The DDSA Mentoring Programme
Are you an experienced data scientist who would like to share your experiences with an aspiring data scientist as a mentee? Or are you an aspiring data scientist looking for a mentor? The Danish Data Science Academy is excited to announce the launch of the second edition of the DDSA Mentoring Programme in the winter of 2022/23.
Bridging experience and talent within data science
The purpose of the Mentoring Programme is to facilitate personal and professional growth with a focus on professionals and researchers within data science in Denmark.
We will request feedback from participants throughout the programmes and welcome suggestions for improvement.
The Pilot Programme runs with a limited number of participants for approximately five months from October 2022 to February 2023.
The next edition, the “Spring 2023 Edition”, will be open to everyone and will kick off in March 2023 and run for one semester until July 2023. From here, the mentoring programmes will follow the academic calendar in a year-long format, to ensure more interaction between mentors and mentees.
How much time is required?
DDSA encourages the Mentoring Programme participants to invest enough time and energy to ensure a great experience for both parties. It is required to attend the Kick Off and Closing event (2 x 30 minutes virtual) and at least one monthly check in of one hour for the duration of the programme (approx. 1h x 5 checkins + preperation).
Furthermore, if the mentor takes on more mentees, it is expected to conduct each check-in on a 1:1 basis, adding to the time requried for a successful mentoring programme.
You must be based in Denmark
The only requirement for participating in the programme is that you are based in Denmark for the duration of the programme. Short travels are not a problem. We strive to build a cohesive community within Denmark, and therefore we expect the participants to be able to meet up physcially, if they please.
Spring 2023 Edition (March – July 2023) registrations open soon!
Matchmaking & Kick Off
The matchmaking process works as follows: Once mentors and mentees have registered, we will ask the mentees to prioritise their top 5 favourite mentors. Prioritisation will take place from February 4th – 12th (midnight), 2023. Next, DDSA will optimise for the highest priorities. If multiple mentees have selected the same mentor as a first priority, we will perform a random distribution. If there are more mentees than mentors, we will prioritise the mentees with less experience. The pairs will be announced on February 20th.
The Kick Off of the Spring 2023 Edition will take place virtually on Wednesday March 1st, 2023, from 16:30-17.00.
Open December 1st, 2022 – February 1st, 2023
