Emil Thyge Winther Kjær

Position: Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Background

I am a Sr. ML Engineer at Gubra with a Ph.D. in Chemistry. My background spans TechBio, pharma, and tech, having worked at Gubra, Bristol Myers Squibb, and Intel. I specialize in applying ML to solve complex scientific challenges. My expertise includes using geometric deep learning to predict cancer survival from single-cell data, generative AI for molecular design, and computer vision for semiconductor defect detection. My main focus is developing new models and scaling research into robust, production-ready pipelines.

Motivation

I am very grateful for the mentors who helped me understand that a good career is about much more than just being good at your work. I am passionate about helping aspiring data scientists navigate the industry. Having directed internships and mentored researchers at Bristol Myers Squibb, I deeply value guiding others through complex career landscapes. I want to share my insights on bridging research with scalable engineering, while also expanding my network and learning from my mentees’ fresh perspectives.
